In South Africa, Christof Industries has spent months working towards an exciting new project in the agriculture and food industry. In cooperation with the company “Agriprotein”, Christof Industries is now undertaking ground-breaking work with long-term environmental benefits.
Christof Industries has been nominated as Agriprotein’s exclusive technical partner and will be providing basic and detail engineering services, and later also the core components, the software and automation for a pilot plant. Christof Industries has also secured the worldwide right of first refusal as a partner for EPC(M) solutions for further Agriprotein projects.
Agriprotein has invested years of effort in intensive research and development activities in the field of nutrient recycling. Agriprotein uses cultivated larvae to produce protein from food waste. The protein meal produced in this way can be used for example in place of fishmeal or soya and can be employed inter alia in chicken or fish farming. In the long term, the entire animal feed industry is a potential market for this new product.
