We are happy to announce that we have recently been awarded a new EcoVadis rating. We have received 60 out of 100 points and, therefore, a silver medal placing us within the top 25 percent of all rated companies. Compared to our last assessment, we have increased our overall score by 14 points. This highlights that our efforts and commitment to increasing our sustainability performance have already proven effective.
Ecovadis
EcoVadis is a global collaborative platform that provides sustainability ratings for procurers. Such ratings are particularly useful for us as an external verification and measure of our ESG performance. We have seen increasing importance of these ratings for our customers and business partners.
Past assessments
Over the past years, Christof Industries received ratings from EcoVadis on two occasions. The first assessment was conducted in 2021 and resulted in a bronze medal. While we were still placed above industry average in most categories, the assessment identified a number of improvement areas. These included reporting on measurements and actions to increase sustainability, KPIs and targets, and specific topics, including sustainable procurement, supplier code of conduct, risk analysis, information security, anti-corruption, waste, and water management.
We took these improvement suggestions seriously and implemented several measures including new policies, such as a new Code of Conduct and Ethics, environmental policy, sustainable procurement policy, data protection policy and an anti-bribery and anti-corruption policy. Another key development has been the implementation of the whistleblowing tool Integrity Line, which will be available for stakeholders within the upcoming month. This enables whistle-blowers to quickly and easily report concerns about actual or suspected misconduct that can affect our company or the wellbeing of people.
This year’s rating has again identified areas where we still have room to improve, particularly in the implementation of clear targets and actions for a more sustainable value chain. Within the next year we aim to further focus on these aspects. Measures that are already being developed include
- setting numerical targets for our sustainability KPIs,
- implementing a learning management system to ensure trainings are provided to employees, and
- analysing and assessing risks in various categories.
We have a long way to go on our path to sustainability but are proud to be taking steps in the right direction.
