Many years ago, I think it was in 2004, I bought my first Tomtom gps device. As a sounddesigner/musician/audioengineer I was curious how to make a tomtom voice. I figured it out how to create such voice and I recorded my little son.
Recording my son was the most easy part and very funny to do.
But then, audiocutting in different applications, selecting takes, processing audio, renaming files, converting, dostools etc.
That was a hell of a job, it took me a whole day to create my first GPS voice.
But the result was marvelous.
So my father in law also installed his grandchild’s voice on his tomtom navigation-device, and proud as a peacock, he drove with friends to the gym. All the people loved this gps voice. Then i was asked to record other children, so I decided to automate the processes, lucky to have some programming skills.
I thought, it can be possible to do these things on a simple website, so people can do it their selves! It’s also a very nice gift.

I bumbed into an old schoolfriend. Joris Huurneman is CEO of Covadis Software Development and he’s a brilliant software developer. Together with Joris we developed in the evening, next to our daily job, the worlds first website where you can create your very own GPS voice, YourPND.com.

Because of the dutch success (site was only in Dutch) and good international reviews we decided to create an international platform where you can create and download personal navigation-voices and gps content.
A major upgrade of YourPND.com deserved a nice name.
I thought about a funny .com domainname, easy to recognize

Now the goat has been released: NAVIGOAT.com

In 2003 I invented and produced the Nametones. A musical ringtone with your own name.
That became a big hit in ringtone-industry. Copied by many ringtone providers.

Now I’ve made navigationvoices for garmin, mio digiwalker and tomtom for about 1700 dutch names.
It’s a very nice personal product!
This feature will be available soon in English and Español.

Tomorrow starts a commercial campaign.
I’ve produced a view radiocommercials for dutch national radio, composed a catchy song for it and recorded voice-overs.
I’ve also recorded my youngest son (4yo).

Next to the commercial campaign, the idea raised to make a naughty video.
With some friends from my hometown, (Zoomworks.nl) we’ve made a video: How to create navigation voices (NSFW )
You can find it on youtube. You understand that it was a heavy job for me to do the lightning on the set
In the postproduction I composed the song “Goat to the left, Goat to the right! everybody’s doin’ allright” and designed the audio.
